Chi Upsilon Sigma is not only an organization that impacts the community but an organization of leaders. Our members continuously give back their time, effort, and ideas to the organization while they exude confidence in their field, education and commitment to their families as students, teachers, engineers, case workers, lawyers just to name a few. They serve as role models that influence not only our membership but our society. We as an organization felt that these women that have given their time not only to C.U.S. but to all that comprise their lives deserve to be recognized and their story shared with you. C.U.S. recognizes a "Sister of the Month" on our website that has astounded not only our membership but her surrounding community.

Vanessa Peralta-Mitchell is an example of how dedication and hard work can help you achieve your goals. As a Sister of C.U.S. for the past 10 years, she has devoted herself to the sorority and its mission. She has held positions such as the Social Activities Coordinator on the Grand Chapter Board, member of the Leadership Development Committee, Alumna Advisor, workshop presenter, step performer/teacher and has held several positions for the Omega Alpha Graduate Chapter where her most cherished accomplishment is creating the “Change for Change” campaign which helps raise funds for pregnant or parent teens/teen parents. She is also an Honorary Member of C.U.S.’ national performance team, SEVEN. She is attributed with creating the sorority’s signature step among others, competing in various competitions, leading an after school stepping program, teaching many Sisters how to step and even appearing on media promotions such as the WB Morning News and most recently in the Sprite Step Off campaign. She has been honored to receive from C.U.S. the Sister of the Year Award and the Eternal Flame Award.
In her personal life, Vanessa and her husband, Braheen, celebrate their most prized achievement, their son, Braheen Jr. Vanessa’s hard work carries over to her personal life goals as she accomplished her first one in 2007 by running the Philadelphia marathon, a 26.2 mile challenge. Her achievement has led her to launch a website, www.vcpproductions.com, in recognition of her journey in actualizing her goals. Recently, she has taken her goal one step further and will be competing in a marathon in Madrid, Spain in April 2010 which will mark her 15th run.
Vanessa is a Sales Analyst for Crawford Broadcasting Company, a corporate office which owns various radio stations across the nation. In addition to her family, her current focuses are bringing C.U.S.'s Stepping back into the spotlight, speaking for the American Heart Association and conquering her next life-long goal of auditioning for hip-hop dance. Her approach to attaining her goals has been to 1) Make a goal verbal, 2) Visualize your goal, 3) Believe in your goal, 4) ACT and 5) Enjoy your accomplishments!
