The Academic Improvement Mentorship (AIM) Program of Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority, Inc. helps empower undergraduate sisters in our sorority to make positive academic choices that enable them to maximize their potential and to become academically active members. The mentoring program uses alumnae volunteers that commit to supporting, guiding, and being a friend to undergraduate sisters for a period of at least one year (two semesters).
What is the role of an A.I.M. Mentor?
- Take the lead in supporting an undergraduate sister through an ongoing, one-to-one relationship
- Serve as a positive role model and friend
- Build the relationship by planning and participating in activities together
- Strive for mutual respect
- Build self-esteem and motivation
- Help set goals and work toward accomplishing them
Participation Requirements
- Be an alumnae sister
- Be interested in working with undergraduate sisters
- Be willing to adhere to all program policies and procedures
- Be willing to complete the application and screening process
- Be dependable and consistent in meeting the time commitments
- Attend mentor training sessions as prescribed
- Be willing to communicate regularly with program staff, submit activity information, and take constructive feedback regarding mentoring activities
What are the desirable qualities of an A.I.M. Mentor
Above all, mentors should want to give back to C.U.S. and provide undergraduate sisters with the opportunity to improve or maintain the high academic standards expected by the Grand Chapter Board. Mentors should be good listeners and encourage and support their men-tee. It is important that mentors been patient and flexible when dealing with undergraduates. If they need help re-prioritizing, it is your responsibility to find new and engaging ways to help them achieve their goals.Benefits of being a Mentor?
