New York, NY (9/12/09) -- Leadership is essential to building all organizations. In order to position it’s membership in a competitive environment, the Leadership Development Committee (LCD) of Chi Upsilon Sigma has created the Leadership Development Program. The program is a six-week series of one-hour webinars designed to enhance and enrich your professional and personal skills. The goal is to provide the current alumnae of Chi Upsilon Sigma with a workshop series that will provide a wide range of knowledge, skills and insights to assist them in achieving their leadership goals.
Each the following different topics will be presented by alumnae with extensive experience in the areas:
1. Work-Life Balance
2. Financial Responsibility
3. Effective Presentation skills
4. Improving Your Ability to Listen
5. Setting Your Development Goals and Priorities
6. Enhancing Your Network
The committee chair, Haydee Y. Perez-Livingston is very excited about the program, “this is our opportunity to give back to you, alumnae, for all your hard work and efforts throughout the years. The first of its kind for CUS, this pilot series, taken in its entirety, will help participants increase their overall understanding of their own leadership style, improve communication skills and develop new skills. We welcome new and “seasoned” alumnae to join the first class of the Leadership Development Program.”

Leadership Development Committee (LDC) has been put in place develop current Sisters into future leaders and to provide all Sisters with an opportunity to grow personally and professionally; thus ensuring the continuity of our sisterhood. This will be achieved by:
• Developing programs that enhance the capacity and maximize the leadership potential of each
sister;
• Developing a systematic approach to training to ensure comprehensive knowledge transfer with
minimal redundancy; and
• Developing a speakers network comprised of CUS sisters in order to provide visibility to CUS
and establish CUS as a leader within the Greek and non-Greek community.
Chi Upsilon Sigma has been in existence since April 29, 1980, incepted on the New Brunswick Campus of Rutgers – the State University of New Jersey. Our founders are 7 Latinas who had the desire to create an organization to promote leadership among the Latino community and our membership has since grown to incorporate women of all ethnicities. Chi Upsilon Sigma has devoted itself to increasing awareness amongst ourselves and our communities about important political, social, cultural, and educational issues and servicing the communities around us.
