Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority, Inc. Sister Selected as a SpecialHonoree at the 5th Cultural Expo African History Celebration
Wilmington,DE (02/25/11) – Jissell Martinez, young professional and University of Delaware graduate will be honored at the 5THCultural Expo African History Celebration for her hard work and dedication as a young rising leader in the Delaware community. Amongst other special honorees that will be awarded are Leonard Young, founder of DelawareBlack.comand Brittney Nichole Snider, local Television personality and producer. As a special honoree, individuals will be given the opportunity to share their stories of success as well as stories of triumph over obstacles growing up in the neighborhoods of Delaware.
The Cultural Expo is an event celebrating African History and promises to educate, inspire and motivate young and old. Presenters include young professionals, musicians,spoken word artist, dancers, craftsmen, entrepreneurs, and university and college students speaking from their own personal journey and life’s experiences.
The event is being hosted by the organizers of the BobMarley Festival and held on Friday February 25th, 2011at the Baby Grand Theatre, which is located within the Grand Opera House at 818N. Market Street Wilmington, Delaware. The cultural expo is an all day event-taking place from 9AM-2PM and 5PM-10PM on February 25th.
Chi Upsilon Sigma has been in existence since April 29, 1980,incepted on the New Brunswick Campus of Rutgers – the State University of New Jersey. Our founders are 7 Latinas who had the desire to create an organization to promote leadership among the Latino community and our membership has since grown to incorporate women of all ethnicities. Chi Upsilon Sigma has devoted itself to increasing awareness amongst ourselves, and our communities about important political, social, cultural, and educational issues and servicing thecommunities around us.
NALFO (NationalAssociation of Latino Fraternal Organizations) is an umbrella councilfor Latino Greek Letter Organizations. The purpose of NALFO is to promote andfoster positive interfraternal relations, communication, and development of allLatino Fraternal organizations through mutual respect, leadership, honesty,professionalism and education.
