Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority, Inc. (C.U.S.) takes great pride in its membership. Our organization holds all members to high principles, without which we would not be where we are today.
Our sisters understand the founding principles of the organization and uphold and support the ideology and values of the sisterhood. Not only do our members participate in philanthropic efforts, but also conduct themselves in a manner which characterize them as respectable members in their communities. Sisters of Chi Upsilon Sigma are consciously aware of their constant role model status, and truly live their lives committed to service, ethics, and sisterhood. In doing so, our actions reflect our mission and values.
The
daily operations of our sisters inspire confidence and are
characterized by high ethical standards, objectivity and openness.
These actions create an atmosphere of respect and demonstrate our
commitment to excellence. We expect our sisters to act with integrity,
respect and accountability.
Integrity - Achieved by ensuring there is proper intent or meaning behind their actions.
Our sisters are expected to:
• Serve the organization and public in accordance with the direction of the sorority governing body.
• Act honestly when performing their duties.
• Ensure they declare and appropriately manage interests that may conflict with the way they carry out their duties.
• Conduct themselves in a manner that will not reflect adversely on the sisterhood.
Respect – Treating others with respect is of utmost importance.
Our sisters are expected to:
• Treat one another with mutual respect and courtesy and regard for the dignity of others.
• Recognize the importance of people through training and ongoing development.
• Promote equality.
• Practice self-respect in their actions and decision-making.
Accountability - Fulfilling their responsibility as a sister of Chi Upsilon Sigma and a member of their communities.
Our Sisters are expected to:
• Act in an efficient, responsible and justifiable manner through the
implementation of risk management standards and practices.
• Ensure decisions have regard for the well-being of the membership and the community we serve, both now and for the future.
• Ensure all decisions are fair and made without excessive formality.
• Ensure all decisions are transparent and in keeping with confidentiality requirements.
• Provide responsive, timely, effective and efficient service to your chapter, executive board, and/or committee.
In addition to the expectations above, our members are also expected to:
* Adhere to the Chi Upsilon Sigma Constitution, and National and Chapter Bylaws
* Adhere to university and respective council policies
* Follow local, state and federal law
* Attend member development programs sponsored by the National and
Regional Boards, where their leadership, teamwork and organizational
skills may be further enhanced
* Satisfy all financial obligations
* Participate in all chapter events, support our National Philanthropy,
Service Project and other community service initiatives
* After
graduation, remain committed to Chi Upsilon Sigma by becoming actively
involved alumnae and financial supporters of the Sorority
